Formed in 2019, this four-piece band from the Midlands are releasing their new four-track EP titled ‘Sovereign’. Filled with infectious beats, giving off a real feel-good energy that makes it fun to listen to, Like Giants EP talks about mental health, relationships and just overall life in general.

With the ever-growing talent that takes place within the pop-punk culture, having a unique sound is a must. Like Giants offer quirkiness, creativity, with compelling yet soft melodic vocals and insane riffs all while making their audience feel happy when listening to itthese tracks are perfect for sunny car rides. Embracing their pop-punk sound whilst delving into something slightly heavier, they create an even bigger audience for themselves who will enjoy the jumpy punk rhythms as well as the heavier aspects, showing that the band can offer variety which of course is always important.

Like Giants have many influences – Neck Deep, State Champs and A Day to Remember etc, all of which shines through in their tracks, giving their audience the catchy choruses, punchy riffs, and the array of vocal ranges.

“Embracing their pop-punk sound whilst delving into something slightly heavier, they create an even bigger audience for themselves”

‘Right in the Childhood’ comes first, with its compelling and true meaning about being a child and feeling like we could be whatever we wanted to be when everything was easier, and life was not too complicated. With lyrics ‘’right in the childhood we can be anything that we like, walking around with our heads in the sky,” this track shows the diverse sound Like Giants have, giving off that energetic feel but with suspenseful breakdowns to keep the audience engaged.

‘The Poet’ is a full-on pop-punk song with roaring vocals that are filled with pure emotion. As the chorus hits they go more high-pitched, creating a barrier between different ranges which works in their favour. Overlapping the vocals on the chorus gives it that powerful sound, making it feel more like a chant.

“this band are set to take the music world by storm and give it a fresh, unique and revised sound”

‘Cut and Run’ , the heavier track on the EP, is more intense and louder, with its unexpected breakdowns and daunting vocals. The combination of different sounds makes Like Giants stand out from the rest because they don’t mind switching it up and that’s what the music world needs. ‘Beauty Queen’ goes back to the original punk sound ending the collection on a high note.

With just four songs and only becoming a band this year, this band are set to take the music world by storm and give it a fresh, unique and revised sound. They show so much potential and often speak about real-life matters throughout their lyrics. After this release, it’ll be great to hear what they come up with next and to see what 2019 has in store for them.
