Will this be the end of the callous heart?

Last night at their show in London’s KOKO, Creeper sent shockwaves through their fanbase when frontman Will Gould said something that may have alluded to them possibly breaking up.

Following their vivacious performance, the Southampton collective took a moment of recollection and gratitude before their last song ‘Misery‘ where Gould spoke to the crowd.

In his speech he said, “Of all the shows we’ve played in this last four years, this one will remain with us the longest, because not only is it the last show of this album, but it’s the last show that we’ll ever do”

But what caught many off-guard is that this speech is an almost word for word copy of the  David Bowie’s speech when he killed off off his character Ziggy Stardust at the Hammersmith Apollo on July 03, 1973. Bowie said “This has been one of the greatest tours of our life… Of all the shows on this tour, this one will remain with us the longest, because not only is it the last show of the tour, but it’s the last show that we will ever do.”

Then almost poetically, Gould and the band finished with ‘Misery’ and removed their Callus Heart jackets, leaving them at the front of the stage while a black and white highlights reel of the band played from across the stage.

Is this truly the end? Or have Creeper pulled off one of the most cinematic and poetic stage hoaxes in their life? We’ll let you decide
