EKULU – MELT THE ICE
FROM: NEW YORK | FOR FANS OF: CRO-MAGS, TRAPPED UNDER ICE
“God tier Alpha Omega era Cro Mags worship. It’s got groove and heaviness backed up by sick musicianship. Would pit heavily to this song.”
HATCHIE – SURE
FROM: BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA | FOR FANS OF: WOLF ALICE, THE REGRETTES
“If you like Cocteau Twins and The Cranberries you’ll love Hatchie. With amazing melodies and lush sounding instrumentals, Hatchie’s new EP gets stuck in your head instantly. Despite hearing their influences Harriet and her band bring their own style of 90’s shoegaze pop that stands on its own. Plus they’re from Australia and Australians are awesome.”
DENZEL CURRY – PERCS
FOR FANS OF: TYLER THE CREATOR
“Curry’s live shows are heavier than most hardcore bands. He goes off and screams louder than most PAs can handle. He does wild flip kicks and other mad stuff. Beats sound insane and his voice is so deep and aggressive that it makes his flow come across even harder than on record. 2016’s Imperial was a flawless release and this is my favourite track of this year’s Taboo because of how hard he rinses soundcloud/mumble rappers.”
CANDY – LUST FOR DESTRUCTION
FROM: BOSTON | FOR FANS OF: VEIN, JESUS PIECE
“Candy is an enigma. They are both incredibly fun and intensely hard. Their shows are ridiculous. So much energy and anger expelled through a mixture of d beat/hardcore/punk songs that usually don’t go past 2mins and most being under that. They’re hard to explain but just go see them live and thank me later.”
